Spiritual life coach?

Spiritual life coach - I came across this job title today.

It means a guide that can help people see the positives in life when they are struggling to see the good in themselves.

This title seems most apt for a good number of pastors who take up precious Sunday morning time sharing pep talks and inspirational messages, instead of the sanctifying truth of God’s word.

More Christians than ever are confused about the nature of God. Many cannot defend their faith with confidence, and many do not understand the position of Christ on daily and global matters.

This is not the Christianity Jesus sacrificed Himself for. He came so we could know the only true God (John 17:3) - this is the eternal life that He promised us.

When we know God - we know ourselves. In His light, we see light (Psalm 36:9), and in His presence dwells the fullness of joy that we all desperately seek.

We cannot get these benefits by looking inwards or seeking some inner source of strength - we must rely on God.

God's glory must take precedence in our ministration to others: it is in seeking the kingdom of God and His righteousness first, that good things are added to us.

So if you are too scared to talk about God’s truth, or too lazy to find out what He wants to tell His people in these times, change your title to ‘Spiritual Life Coach’, please!

Let’s leave the Pastor title for those that have a burden to shepherd God’s people, to build their faith, and to grow them in Christ.

Because there’s so much more to Christianity than the motivational speech. So much more.
