Jesus - just a prophet?
In our present politically correct world, the need to appear neutral and not abrasive or bigoted makes people sit on the fence with a flawed logic about Jesus Christ.
Many say and believe that Jesus Christ was just a good teacher or prophet, and nothing more than that. However, to claim this requires deliberately overlooking many salient facts about His life, and is an opinion lacking basis.
An opinion without facts is simply what it is - just an opinion, and it has no power to hold any water. Just look at examples in our daily lives. A person could have an opinion that if they bought flowers for their wife she would be happy with them. But with no prior knowledge or experience, they are only 50% sure of the outcome.
You could blind your eyes to the prevailing laws of gravity and strongly believe that you can jump from a ten-story tower and not sustain any injuries, but acting on that baseless opinion could have grave consequences. Opinions without facts can be very dangerous.
The facts of the life of Jesus leave everyone with only two informed conclusions. Yes, there were those whose darkened hearts and jealousy beclouded their sentiments from the obvious facts. There were also those who were knowledgable enough to discern, but let the fear of approval get in their way. But we, who now view these facts in retrospect, need not fall into any form of confusion. Jesus was EITHER a highly intelligent but controversial person OR the Son of the Most High God whose death took away the sins of the world. He was not just a prophet or a good teacher.
Good prophets didn't say things like "I and my Father are one" (John 10:30). That was an express declaration of equality with God, which would have been sacrilegious for a normal human to utter.
A good teacher or prophet would NOT say anything that would make the High Priest of his day tear his garments and scream "Blasphemy!"
Jesus lived a life, in the utterances He made and the works He did, that was clear enough to give everyone an impression of who He is. It is time to stop trying to work around the truth, and take a definitive stance, on truth.
